Madurantakam, October 1 (Daily Kiran) : Preparations for the upcoming assembly by-elections in Tamil Nadu are in full swing. The Tamil Nadu Vetrikai Kazhagam (TVK) and its allied parties will hold a joint rally in Madurantakam on Thursday to demonstrate their strength against the DMK and AIADMK.
Key figures scheduled to speak at the rally include Thol Thirumavalavan, President of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), Manikam Tagore, President of the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee, Vaiko, General Secretary of the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK), and K.M. Khader Mohideen, President of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML). TVK General Secretary N. Anand and Adhav Arjun will also address the gathering.
This event is organized by the ‘Secular Social Justice Victory Alliance’ led by TVK. Organizers expect around 5,000 attendees. The rally comes at a time when there is confusion among coalition partners regarding Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s recent campaign in Madurantakam, where he did not share the stage with other leaders.
While CM Vijay mentioned the IUML in his speech, he did not acknowledge other coalition partners, sparking discussions of discontent within the alliance. Notably, he will not attend Thursday’s meeting, as he has scheduled separate campaigning in the constituency on October 2.
TVK leaders believe that the participation of senior coalition leaders in the joint meeting, coupled with CM Vijay’s subsequent campaigning, will strengthen their collective position and help counter opposition criticisms.
VCK General Secretary D. Ravikumar stated that the decision to hold the rally was made after discussions aimed at uniting all coalition partners for a coordinated campaign. The alliance is also working to counter claims made by AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami regarding “justice for betrayal” and allegations of “horse-trading” against TVK and its leadership.
