UN Chief Expresses Concern Over Flydubai Incident, Relieved by Averted Tragedy

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expresses deep concern over a Flydubai incident and praises efforts to ensure passenger safety.

New York, October 1 (Daily Kiran) : United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has expressed profound concern regarding an incident involving a Flydubai flight bound for Tel Aviv. He stated that he feels relieved that a major tragedy was averted following the event.

The incident occurred when the first officer allegedly attacked the pilot of the Flydubai aircraft, raising fears that the assailant was attempting to crash the plane. Fortunately, the aircraft remained secure, and all passengers were unharmed.

Guterres’s spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric, released a brief statement condemning any acts that jeopardize civilian lives and the safety of air travel. He expressed gratitude for the efforts of authorities involved in ensuring the safety of all passengers and emphasized the importance of maintaining aviation security.

On September 30, the Flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv reportedly faced an attempted crash. The pilot, Captain Smita Machhar, displayed remarkable bravery by alerting passengers to the danger and ultimately managing to avert disaster with the help of some courageous travelers. Captain Machhar sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment.

The bravery of Captain Machhar and the passengers has garnered global admiration. Israeli media hailed the pilot as a “hero” and a “real superhero,” while India also takes pride in his actions. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Machhar’s courage, stating that his quick thinking saved the lives of over a hundred people and prevented a catastrophe.
