Election Commission is a Constitutional Body, Opposition Should Avoid Confusion: Bipin Parmar

Kelong, October 1 (Daily Kiran) : Bipin Singh Parmar, the former Speaker of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly, has responded to concerns raised by Congress and other opposition parties regarding the Special Intensive Review (SIR) process. Speaking at a press conference in Kelong, the BJP leader emphasized that the Election Commission is a constitutional body, and discussions about electoral processes should be based on facts and official information.

Parmar explained that the revision of the voter list is a routine procedure aimed at including eligible citizens and updating the list. He stated that the purpose of the SIR, according to the Election Commission, is to ensure that no eligible citizen is left out of the voter list and that no ineligible person is included.

During the revision process, details such as voters’ names, ages, addresses, and other necessary information are verified. If any discrepancies are found, they can be corrected through the established procedures. Additionally, a provision for new eligible voters to register is available through Form-6, which can be filled out via the Election Commission’s voter service portal.

Parmar criticized the Congress and other opposition parties for spreading confusion among the public regarding the SIR. He urged political parties and their leaders to first understand the actual process and facts before making comments. He reiterated that the voter list is being revised based on the procedures set by the Election Commission.

He stressed the importance of having an accurate and updated voter list for the democratic process. Parmar appealed to opposition parties to study the official information released by the Election Commission before making any statements about the SIR.

The press conference was attended by several notable figures, including Bharmour MLA Dr. Janak Raj, former MLA and BJP state committee member Ravi Thakur, district BJP president Rigzin Hiyarapa, and district general secretary Sanjay Katoch.
