
Thane, October 1 (Daily Kiran) : Uddhav Thackeray, the leader of Shiv Sena (UBT), visited the family of party official Pradeep Purnekar in Thane following his tragic murder. Thackeray offered his condolences, accompanied by several senior party members, including MP Arvind Sawant, Vinayak Raut, and MLA Anil Parab.
Purnekar, the district chief of Shiv Sena (UBT), was reportedly shot dead by unidentified assailants. This incident has intensified the political blame game regarding law and order in Maharashtra.
Aditya Thackeray, a Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA, expressed his outrage on social media platform X, describing the murder as shocking and deplorable. He criticized the state government for failing to maintain law and order in Maharashtra.
He stated that such incidents highlight the weakening foundation of law enforcement in the state, making it increasingly difficult for ordinary citizens to feel safe. Aditya Thackeray further accused political parties of creating an environment that protects criminal elements, thereby hindering police efforts.
He demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible for Purnekar’s murder and expressed his condolences to the victim’s family and friends.
Reports indicate that Purnekar was shot at his office in Manorama Nagar, Thane. He was critically injured and later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. Initial reports suggest that five assailants attacked him, firing seven rounds and using sharp weapons.
According to police sources, Purnekar’s friend, Papya Shinde, has been arrested, while searches are ongoing for four other suspects.
