Congress Leader Praises Pilots Bravery Amidst Political Discussions at Indi Alliance Meeting

Ranchi, October 1 (Daily Kiran) : Congress leader Kishor Nath Shahdev recently praised pilot Captain Smith Machhar for his courage and quick thinking during a crisis. Machhar ensured the safety of passengers during a potential hijacking attempt, setting an example of humanity. Shahdev expressed pride in the Indian-origin pilot, whose actions have garnered global recognition.

In an interview, Shahdev noted that discussions about Captain Machhar’s bravery are taking place worldwide, with leaders and citizens alike commending his efforts. He emphasized that the pilot not only saved lives but also protected others who could have been affected by the incident.

Shahdev also responded to statements made by BJP leaders regarding the recent Indi Alliance meeting. He highlighted that even before the meeting commenced, many BJP officials claimed that the alliance was not willing to accept Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, and several parties chose not to attend.

The Congress leader described the Indi Alliance as a political platform addressing issues that affect millions of voters. He pointed out concerns over voter list removals and other electoral processes, asserting that opposition parties are raising the public’s voice on these matters.

During the meeting, leaders from all major parties participated, with some joining via video conferencing. Shahdev urged BJP leaders to focus on the issues raised by the opposition rather than commenting on the meeting itself.

He announced that the Indi Alliance has decided to hold a ‘Democracy March’ across the country from October 2 to 8. On October 6, opposition parliamentarians will march to the Election Commission to express their dissent.

Despite the festive season in October, Shahdev affirmed that the opposition will continue its movement concerning democratic issues. The meeting also discussed plans for a significant public gathering in New Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan in the first week of November.

Shahdev emphasized that the opposition aims to raise issues related to the Constitution and democratic institutions. He accused the central government of attempting to control these institutions, although he acknowledged that these are his political views.

He questioned the characterization of Indi Alliance leaders as “foreign,” noting that the coalition includes various political parties with significant influence in their respective states.

He mentioned notable opposition figures such as former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Sharad Pawar of the Nationalist Congress Party, and Uddhav Thackeray, arguing that the BJP’s remarks about the alliance are inappropriate.

Shahdev asserted that the public will decide on matters concerning democratic institutions and voter rights. He reiterated his claims against the central government’s interference in constitutional processes, which he believes is why opposition parties are persistently raising these issues.

Addressing inquiries about Rahul Gandhi’s candidacy for the Prime Minister position in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections, Shahdev clarified that the main agenda of the Indi Alliance meeting was to discuss the Election Commission’s functioning and other significant democratic issues. He stated that questions regarding the Prime Ministerial candidate are outside the immediate agenda.

He suggested that the Indi Alliance could determine its candidate before the elections or allow its MPs to elect a leader if they secure a majority afterward. Therefore, raising questions about the Prime Ministerial candidate now diverts attention from critical issues.

However, Shahdev noted a growing expectation among the public regarding Rahul Gandhi. He highlighted Gandhi’s consistent focus on youth, student, and common people’s issues, bringing their voices to the forefront through various initiatives.

He concluded by asserting that India is a youth-centric nation, and Gandhi’s leadership on issues affecting young people is gaining support. Shahdev confidently claimed that in upcoming elections, Gandhi will receive substantial backing from citizens, particularly new voters.
