Surya Kumar Reveals Nerves Before Semi-Final Victory Against England

Mumbai, March 6: India triumphed over England in a thrilling semi-final match held at Wankhede Stadium, winning by 7 runs. With this victory, Team India secured a spot in the finals, where they will face New Zealand on March 8. Indian captain Surya Kumar admitted to feeling quite nervous during the match.

In this encounter, India batted first, scoring 253 runs while losing 7 wickets. England responded with a valiant effort, managing 246 runs but ultimately fell short.

Reflecting on the pressure of the match, Surya Kumar stated, “I was really nervous. If someone had checked my heart rate, it would have shown. It’s natural to feel pressure and anxiety when playing for a title in India, but the boys are also excited about it.”

The final match against New Zealand will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Expressing his joy at reaching the finals, Surya Kumar said, “It’s an incredible feeling. Going to Ahmedabad for the final is very special for the team.”

The English team displayed courageous batting while chasing a challenging target, fighting until the last ball. Surya Kumar praised their performance, saying, “The England team stayed competitive throughout the match and posed a good challenge in the run chase. However, the way Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and the other bowlers turned the match back in our favor was remarkable. It was truly a special bowling performance.”

Captain Surya also credited the fielding coach for their success, saying, “We must give some credit to our fielding coach T. Dilip. As soon as we saw Adil Rashid bowling from one end, we felt that Shivam Dube would be the right match-up against him.”
