Patna, April 9: Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of the opposition, has launched a sharp attack on Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the ruling BJP-led coalition. He accused them of failing to maintain law and order in the state.
Referring to a brutal murder in Forbesganj, Araria district, Yadav described the current situation in Bihar as “chaotic governance.” He stated, “The government is preoccupied with power politics while the state’s system is in complete disarray. Patients are not receiving treatment, medicines are unavailable, and even stretchers are missing in hospitals.”
Expressing outrage over the incident in Araria, he said, “A man was beheaded in broad daylight, and the accused roamed freely with the victim’s head in hand. Where is the administration? Where is the law and order?”
According to police, the incident occurred around 9 AM near the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) area, following a dispute between a driver and a roadside vendor over parking. The deceased driver has been identified as Nabi Hussain, while the accused vendor, Rahul Chauhan, allegedly attacked Hussain with a sharp weapon, decapitating him on the spot.
After the attack, the assailant fled, inciting anger among locals. A crowd quickly gathered and began searching for him. Eventually, he was found hiding in nearby bushes, where he was reportedly beaten to death by the mob, turning the incident into a case of mob lynching.
Yadav further alleged that under the NDA government, Bihar has become one of the top states in terms of crime rates. He cited reports from the NITI Aayog to question the government’s performance on economic metrics.
He remarked, “Bihar remains one of the poorest states, with the lowest per capita income, the highest unemployment rate, and massive out-migration. The state is lagging in every sector, from education to healthcare.”
Yadav also accused the government of facing a severe economic crisis, claiming, “Salaries and pensions are not being paid. Even ministers have not received their salaries. I have not received mine either. Contractors are waiting for their payments. The entire system is in shambles.”
He further criticized those in power for focusing more on the sand and liquor trade rather than governance, stating that the so-called ‘double-engine government’ lacks a vision and a solid development package for Bihar.
