
Uttarkashi, May 17: The revered shrines of Gangotri and Yamunotri in Uttarkashi district are witnessing an overwhelming influx of pilgrims during the Char Dham Yatra. Since the journey commenced on April 19, over 500,000 devotees have visited both shrines within just a month.
The administration is actively monitoring the travel arrangements to ensure a smooth, safe, and organized experience for the large number of pilgrims arriving from across the country and abroad.
According to the travel bulletin released by the district administration, a total of 520,991 pilgrims have visited the two shrines so far. This includes 262,275 visitors to Yamunotri and 258,716 to Gangotri. To date, approximately 51,068 vehicles have transported pilgrims to these sacred sites.
Recent statistics indicate that on Sunday alone, 15,030 pilgrims visited Yamunotri, while 13,737 made their way to Gangotri. There is a notable enthusiasm among the devotees, with large numbers arriving daily.
Under the guidance of District Magistrate Prashant Arya, all necessary arrangements for the pilgrimage have been meticulously organized. Special attention is being given to traffic management, security, health services, drinking water supply, electricity, cleanliness, and disaster management along the travel routes. The administration is continuously monitoring these routes to prevent any inconvenience to the pilgrims.
Health department teams are stationed at various points along the travel routes to provide immediate medical assistance if needed. Additionally, regular cleanliness measures are being implemented to maintain the travel paths in an orderly and hygienic condition.
The district administration has emphasized that all departments are working in coordination to provide a safe, comfortable, and smooth travel experience for the pilgrims. They are fully committed to ensuring the success and organization of the pilgrimage.
