Kashmir, September 4 (Daily Kiran) : In preparation for the upcoming International Film Festival, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for Kashmir, Sujit Kumar, held a high-level security review meeting at the Police Control Room (PCR) in Kashmir. The primary goal of the meeting, conducted on September 4, was to strengthen security arrangements and comprehensively assess preparations to ensure the event is conducted peacefully and safely.
Senior officials from various agencies attended the meeting, including the Additional Commissioner of Srinagar, DIG of SSB Srinagar, DIG of ITBP Srinagar, CID Kashmir, Traffic Kashmir, and representatives from the Army, tourism department, and emergency services.
During the meeting, IGP Kumar reviewed the overall security preparations, deployment plans, and other arrangements for the festival. Key topics discussed included site security, personnel deployment, access control, surveillance systems, crowd management, traffic control, emergency response mechanisms, and coordination among different agencies.
Kumar emphasized the need for adequate and strategically positioned security forces at all designated venues, taking into account the expected movement of visitors, participants, and dignitaries. He instructed officials to thoroughly inspect all designated routes and ensure the proper deployment of Road Opening Parties (ROP) to facilitate safe and uninterrupted traffic flow.
The IGP also highlighted the importance of implementing effective crowd management systems, organizing entry and exit points, and ensuring smooth movement around the event sites. He stressed the necessity of developing traffic management plans to maintain the flow of vehicles while deploying sufficient police force in sensitive and crowded areas to minimize public inconvenience.
Furthermore, Kumar underscored the significance of close coordination and real-time information sharing among all involved agencies to maintain robust and rapid security measures throughout the festival. He directed officials to remain vigilant, enhance surveillance, and implement all necessary security and preventive measures well in advance.
