New Delhi, September 4 (Daily Kiran) : The Delhi Traffic Police has escalated its enforcement efforts against commercial passenger vehicles, including taxis, private buses, and chartered vehicles. This initiative aims to ensure strict adherence to traffic regulations and permit conditions, thereby enhancing road discipline and ensuring safe traffic flow across the city.
As part of this ongoing crackdown, the police issued a staggering 37,959 fines for various traffic and permit violations by August 31. Of these, 24,833 were for illegal or unauthorized parking, while 13,126 were related to permit infractions.
In a focused effort over the last three days, the police intensified their operations in critical areas, particularly busy main roads, marketplaces, transit corridors, and crowded locations where violations by commercial vehicles significantly impact traffic and road safety. During this period, 847 fines were issued, with 487 for illegal parking and 360 for permit-related violations. Additionally, 47 buses were seized for serious breaches of permit conditions and other legal provisions.
Special traffic teams have been deployed at key locations to monitor taxis, private buses, chartered vehicles, and other commercial passenger vehicles. These teams are particularly focused on identifying improperly parked vehicles and those operating in violation of permit conditions. Drivers and operators are being educated on the importance of adhering to permit requirements and traffic regulations.
This three-day operation is part of the ongoing enforcement activities by the Central Range of the Delhi Traffic Police. The initiative underscores the police’s commitment to ensuring disciplined operation of commercial passenger vehicles and preventing violations that could jeopardize traffic flow, passenger safety, and road security.
