Supriya Sule to Lead Parliamentary Delegation to Singapore

New Delhi, February 24: The central government has entrusted a significant responsibility to NCP-SP MP Supriya Sule. She will lead a delegation of MPs traveling to Singapore. Additionally, Sule will spearhead India’s parliamentary diplomacy with friendly nations.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has established parliamentary friendship groups with over 60 countries. These groups include MPs from all major political parties, with Supriya Sule assigned to the Singapore delegation.

This initiative aims to strengthen India’s parliamentary relations with countries worldwide. The formation of these groups signals India’s desire to enhance direct and regular dialogue with various global parliaments, thereby maintaining robust ties alongside traditional diplomacy.

In addition to Supriya Sule, the friendship groups feature senior leaders such as Ravi Shankar Prasad, M. Thambidurai, P. Chidambaram, Ram Gopal Yadav, T.R. Baalu, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Gaurav Gogoi, Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, Manish Tewari, Derek O’Brien, Abhishek Banerjee, Asaduddin Owaisi, Akhilesh Yadav, K.C. Venugopal, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Sanjay Singh, Baijayant Panda, Shashi Tharoor, Nishikant Dubey, Anurag Singh Thakur, Bhartuhari Mahatab, D. Purandeswari, Sanjay Kumar Jha, Hema Malini, Biplab Kumar Deb, Sudhanshu Trivedi, Jagdambika Pal, Sasmita Patra, Aparajita Sarangi, Shrikant Eknath Shinde, P.V. Mithun Reddy, and Praful Patel among others.

The Lok Sabha Secretariat has announced that the countries involved in these friendship groups include Sri Lanka, Germany, New Zealand, Switzerland, South Africa, Bhutan, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Maldives, the United States, Russia, the European Parliament, South Korea, Nepal, the United Kingdom, France, Japan, Italy, Oman, Australia, Greece, Singapore, Brazil, Vietnam, Mexico, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates. While the first phase has established friendship groups with over 60 countries, efforts are underway to form similar groups with several other nations in the near future.
