Mumbai, June 22: Samajwadi Party legislator Ravidas Mehrotra has made serious allegations against the central and Uttar Pradesh BJP government on various issues. These include concerns about the transparency of the NEET exam, alleged theft and donation issues related to the Ram Temple, actions against Trinamool Congress bank accounts, statements from Om Prakash Rajbhar, comments from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and the state’s law and order situation.
Regarding the re-conduct of the NEET exam, Mehrotra noted that over 22 lakh students participated this time. He wished all candidates good luck, emphasizing the need for a fair and transparent examination process. He stated that the future of millions of students is tied to this exam, and any irregularities in the process should be avoided. He called for equal opportunities and fair evaluation for all candidates.
On the alleged theft and donation issues concerning the Ram Temple, Mehrotra raised grave concerns, claiming that valuable assets worth crores have gone missing. He pointed out that many questions remain unanswered regarding this matter, which is significant to millions of Hindus. He mentioned that CCTV cameras in the temple premises were reportedly turned off before the alleged theft, and no FIR has been filed yet. He questioned how the SIT could investigate without a registered case.
Mehrotra accused the government of attempting to protect the guilty parties and insisted that an independent agency or a retired or sitting judge from the Supreme Court or High Court should oversee the investigation. He claimed to have evidence that could be presented to the appropriate investigative agency.
Responding to the freezing of Trinamool Congress bank accounts, Mehrotra alleged that the BJP government is using central agencies to target opposition parties. He stated that opposition leaders and political parties are being harassed through intimidation from the CBI, ED, and Income Tax Department. He accused the government of trying to break opposition MPs and MLAs and exert political pressure, claiming that democratic institutions are under strain and the government is operating in a dictatorial manner.
In response to Om Prakash Rajbhar’s claims about potential splits in the Samajwadi Party, Mehrotra asserted that the party remains united under the leadership of National President Akhilesh Yadav. He expressed confidence that no SP MLA or MP would leave the party. Conversely, he suggested that dissent exists within Rajbhar’s party, with some of their legislators wishing to join the Samajwadi Party. He also indicated that several BJP legislators are ready to leave their party, predicting political upheaval in both the BJP and Rajbhar’s party in the coming months.
Targeting Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Mehrotra accused the state government of misleading the public. He stated that the Samajwadi Party respects all religions and that questions regarding the Ram Temple are being raised from a perspective of faith and transparency. He reiterated that if the government desires a fair investigation, it should order a judicial inquiry. He demanded clarification on why no FIR has been filed despite the alleged incident and who ordered the CCTV cameras to be turned off.
Commenting on the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh, Mehrotra alleged that crime and mafia activities have increased in the state. He urged the Chief Minister to make public the list of top criminals in the state and disclose their political connections. He described a situation of “one district, one mafia,” asserting that the nexus of crime, politics, and administration is undermining law and order. Mehrotra claimed that crime has risen during the BJP government’s tenure and called for accountability on this issue.
