Mumbai, May 26: Supriya Pawar, the president of the Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar faction) and Deputy Chief Minister, has called on party ministers, legislators, and officials to take the Special Intensive Review (SIR) process seriously. She urged party workers to participate actively in the SIR to ensure that no eligible voter is left out of the electoral rolls.
Pawar further instructed that during the SIR, block-level agents (BLA) should collaborate with block-level officers (BLO) across all 288 assembly constituencies. She emphasized using this opportunity to strengthen the party organization at the district, tehsil, block, and booth levels.
A party official present at the meeting noted that Pawar stressed the importance of the SIR to ensure that no genuine voter is excluded. She urged them to work at a war footing during the enumeration phase, especially from June 30 to July 29, which will involve door-to-door outreach.
During the meeting, party ministers Chhagan Bhujbal and Hasan Mushrif, along with former state assembly speaker Dilip Walse Patil, shared the steps they have already taken to implement the SIR in their respective constituencies.
This meeting of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) comes just days after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) encouraged its workers to learn from West Bengal, where 6.4 million ineligible voters were removed from the electoral list.
Chaired by state party president Ravindra Chavan, the meeting informed over 700 party members, including MPs, MLAs, and officials, about the SIR process and the necessary rules and precautions involved.
Senior BJP leaders have also urged their party workers to take the SIR seriously, calling for greater participation to ensure that no eligible voter is overlooked and no ineligible voter is included in the list.
Meanwhile, the Shiv Sena, led by Eknath Shinde, has instructed its workers to focus entirely on the SIR, setting aside their current tasks.
