Supreme Court Takes Up Sanjay Kapoor Property Dispute, Notices Issued to Priya Kapoor Sachdev and 22 Others

New Delhi, April 27: The family dispute over the vast estate of the late businessman Sanjay Kapoor has escalated to the Supreme Court. The court has issued notices to Priya Kapoor Sachdev and 22 other parties in response to a petition filed by Sanjay Kapoor’s mother, Rani Kapoor.

Rani Kapoor’s petition seeks to prevent any interference with Sanjay Kapoor’s properties, estate, and other assets. She argues that it is crucial to safeguard the estate until the matter is resolved in court.

The petition raises concerns that without timely protection, the assets could be mismanaged or dispersed. Given the seriousness of the case, the Supreme Court has called for responses from the 22 individuals, including Priya Kapoor Sachdev. The court has also advised both parties to attempt resolution through mutual agreement and mediation.

Rani Kapoor’s petition challenges orders from the Delhi High Court, claiming that no substantial directives have been issued to secure the estate and properties. This lack of action prompted her to approach the Supreme Court.

The dispute began following Sanjay Kapoor’s passing, with reports indicating he left behind an estate valued at approximately ₹30,000 crore. His sister, Mandira Kapoor, has claimed that there are discrepancies in the will, particularly regarding the rights of family members, including Karisma Kapoor and her children.

On the other hand, Priya Kapoor Sachdev asserts that she is acting within legal bounds and that the allegations against her are unfounded.

This dispute has garnered significant attention, partly due to Sanjay Kapoor’s previous marriage to Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor. The couple married in 2003 and has two children, but they later divorced. Sanjay Kapoor subsequently married Priya Sachdev.
