K.S. Chithra received her first major opportunity in the film industry from Malayalam composer M.G. Radhakrishnan, who recorded her voice in 1979. Gradually, she began to establish her identity. Her playback singing career is considered to have begun with the film “Kelkkatha Sabdam” in 1982.
Since then, Chithra has never looked back. She has sung thousands of songs in various languages, including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi. Her voice has been so well-received that she has earned titles such as “The Nightingale of Kerala” and “Little Nightingale of India.”
In the music industry, Chithra has collaborated with renowned composers like A.R. Rahman, Ilaiyaraaja, and M.M. Kreem. She has also contributed several popular songs to Hindi cinema, with the song “Kehna Hi Kya” from the film “Bombay” still resonating with audiences today.
