Sunil Pal Calls for Strict Regulations in Stand-Up Comedy Amid Concerns Over Declining Standards

Mumbai, June 12: Renowned stand-up comedian Sunil Pal has expressed deep concern over the declining standards in stand-up comedy. His remarks come in the wake of ongoing controversies surrounding fellow comedian Praneet More, whose recent comments during a comedy show have sparked significant backlash.

In a video statement, Pal criticized the vulgarity being presented in the name of comedy. He noted that young performers often resort to indecent language in front of their audiences. While this may help them sustain their careers, Pal believes it misleads society and the younger generation. He referred to such comedians as “walking terrorists,” suggesting that their messages do not resonate positively within the community.

Pal urged venue owners to implement strict regulations. He emphasized the need for clear signage prohibiting vulgar language and inappropriate content. “Without such rules, the situation will not improve,” he stated. He highlighted the anxiety among comedians and audiences alike regarding the popularity of performers who resort to offensive humor, questioning why they are invited to major shows like Bigg Boss and KBC.

He lamented the absence of quality comedians, stating that if clean and talented artists are not promoted, the market will be flooded with subpar content. Pal made a heartfelt appeal to the government and authorities to enact stringent laws to curb this trend.
