28th Shanghai International Film Festival Kicks Off with Star-Studded Ceremony

Beijing, June 15: The 28th Shanghai International Film Festival officially opened on the evening of June 13 at the Shanghai Grand Theatre. Renowned director Zhang Yimou received an award for his outstanding contributions to Chinese cinema for the second time. Additionally, celebrated actress Lu Yan, nearing 100 years of age, was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Shanghai International Film Festival is China’s only A-list international film festival. For the first time, all films nominated for the Golden Goblet Award in the main competition and documentary categories had their world premieres.

During the festival, over 420 Chinese and foreign films will be screened more than 1,600 times, including 12 films nominated for the prestigious Golden Goblet Award in the main competition.
