Ranchi, September 11 (Daily Kiran) : Sudesh Kumar Mahto, the central president of the AJSU Party and former Deputy Chief Minister of Jharkhand, met with Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Friday. During their discussion, Mahto raised several significant issues concerning Jharkhand, including a long-standing demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status for the Kudmi community. He submitted a memorandum outlining these concerns and called for immediate action.
Mahto highlighted allegations of irregularities, paper leaks, and financial discrepancies in competitive examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC). He urged for a thorough investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) into these matters.
The memorandum indicated that 39 examinations in the state are under scrutiny, with six others having been postponed by the state government. Mahto emphasized that transparency and trust in competitive exams are crucial for the future of the youth, making a fair and high-level investigation essential.
Additionally, Mahto reiterated the long-standing demand for granting ST status to the Kudmi community. He argued that this recognition is vital for enhancing the community’s social, cultural, political, and economic standing.
He also advocated for the inclusion of local and tribal languages such as Kudmali, Kudukh, Mundari, and Ho in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution. According to him, language is a key aspect of any society’s identity and cultural heritage, and constitutional recognition would facilitate their preservation and development.
Furthermore, Mahto called for a CBI investigation into alleged irregularities in the use of the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) fund. He stressed that the purpose of the DMF is to benefit mining-affected areas and their residents, and any misuse of these funds should be investigated impartially.
Mahto urged Shah to take necessary actions on these pressing issues related to Jharkhand. He noted that their discussion also touched upon the state’s governance, public interest topics, and the balanced development of the region.
