Mumbai, July 11: Pawan Kalyan, the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, underwent successful surgery on his right shoulder at a hospital in Mumbai on Saturday morning. According to doctors, he had severe rotator cuff injuries in both shoulders. However, to avoid excessive pain and complications, the surgery was performed on the right shoulder first, with the left shoulder operation expected to take place in about two months. The procedure lasted approximately three and a half hours, and Pawan Kalyan is currently under medical supervision.
During a recent medical examination, specialists advised him to undergo surgery as soon as possible. Due to previously scheduled governmental and political commitments, he requested some time from the doctors and decided to complete his important responsibilities before proceeding with the operation. All necessary medical tests were conducted on Friday, leading to the successful surgery on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed his wishes for Pawan Kalyan’s swift recovery. He took to social media platform ‘X’ to convey his hopes for the Deputy Chief Minister’s quick and full recovery, praying for strength during this challenging time.
Pawan Kalyan first sustained a shoulder injury in 2016. At that time, doctors advised him to rest adequately, but due to his active public life and political responsibilities, he remained engaged with the public. During his ‘Porata Yatra’ in 2018, many supporters came to meet him, resulting in additional strain on his shoulder from frequent handshakes. Despite the increasing pain, he continued his journey.
He did not pay much attention to his injury afterward. After the 2019 assembly elections, while visiting the Rayalaseema region, particularly Madanapalle, to understand the issues faced by tomato farmers, he continued to meet supporters, exacerbating his shoulder condition. The same situation persisted during his ‘Varahi Yatra’ and the campaigning for the 2024 general elections, leading to further deterioration of both shoulder injuries.
