Kota, June 17: At the ‘Students’ Echo’ rally led by Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, numerous students voiced their concerns regarding the upcoming NEET-UG re-examination. They argued that rescheduling the exam is not a permanent solution to the recurring issue of paper leaks. Instead, they emphasized the need for stronger systems and security measures to prevent such incidents.
During the rally, students highlighted the mental and physical toll that exam paper leaks have on candidates. The NEET-UG re-examination is set for June 21, following alleged irregularities in the exam held on May 3.
One student, preparing for the exam at Allen Coaching Institute, stated that rescheduling the NEET-UG is neither an effective method nor a definitive solution. She expressed that it merely serves to reassure students without addressing the root causes. “These re-exams will continue, but for how long? Students will eventually become emotionally, mentally, and physically exhausted,” she remarked.
The student also pointed out that irregularities occur in other examinations as well, not just NEET. Whether computer-based or OMR-based, security lapses are evident, and candidates often face technical issues during computer-based tests.
She lamented that many of these problems remain unaddressed. The NEET paper leak has become a significant issue because young people have raised their voices against it. “It is being rescheduled now, but perhaps it wouldn’t have happened otherwise,” she added.
Another student echoed similar sentiments, stressing the need for improvements in the system. The repeated incidents of paper leaks adversely affect students’ mental health, leading to stress and demoralization.
She further insisted on tightening security measures to prevent future leaks. Additionally, another student criticized the government’s failure to prevent such incidents, noting that paper leaks occur almost every year, including for sub-inspector exams. Despite court orders, no action has been taken against those involved in these leaks, nor against individuals who secured jobs through unfair means.
