Noida, February 27: Strong winds over the past 24 hours have significantly impacted air quality in the National Capital Region (NCR). Pollution levels have decreased in Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad, with many areas now classified in the yellow zone, indicating ‘moderate’ air quality.
According to available data, approximately 80 percent of the NCR is now recorded in the yellow zone, providing some relief to residents. In Ghaziabad, data from all four active stations of the UP Pollution Control Board show the following Air Quality Index (AQI) readings: Indirapuram at 202, Loni at 247, Sanjay Nagar at 167, and Vasundhara at 192.
In various areas of Delhi, AQI readings include: Alipur at 196, Anand Vihar at 284, Ashok Vihar at 192, Aya Nagar at 163, Bawana at 213, Burari Crossing at 178, Chandni Chowk at 203, CRRI Mathura Road at 174, Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range at 169, and DTU at 145. Most areas recorded AQI levels between 150 and 200, placing them in the yellow zone. However, Anand Vihar remains concerning with an AQI of 284.
Noida has also seen improvements. Sector 62 recorded an AQI of 146, Sector 1 at 139, and Sector 116 at 151. Most areas are now in the moderate range, offering residents some relief. The local weather department forecasts maximum temperatures between 31 degrees Celsius and minimum temperatures between 15 to 16 degrees Celsius from February 27 to March 1. Morning mist conditions may persist. The department has ruled out any significant changes or warnings for the week.
Experts believe that the strong winds have dispersed pollutant particles, leading to a temporary improvement in air quality. If wind speeds remain consistent, the situation may remain stable in the coming days. However, citizens are still advised to stay vigilant and adopt measures to protect themselves from pollution.
