New Delhi, September 3: Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav, chaired a meeting on Thursday to discuss air pollution management in the Delhi-NCR region and its surroundings.
The meeting included participation from the environment ministers and secretaries of Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, along with the chairpersons and member secretaries of pollution control boards. Delhi’s Manjinder Singh Sirsa shared details of the meeting on the social media platform X.
Sirsa stated that the meeting focused on a comprehensive action plan from September 2026 to March 2027 for pollution control in Delhi-NCR. This plan was discussed with Bhupender Yadav, the environment ministers of Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, representatives from Rajasthan, and relevant officials.
He mentioned that Delhi presented its action plan, which consists of seven key points. These include industrial pollution, DG sets, scientific road dust management, construction and demolition waste, municipal solid waste, biomass burning, stubble burning outreach, vehicle emissions, and clean mobility initiatives.
During the meeting, all states shared their plans and future outlines. The Union Environment Minister emphasized the need for cooperation and support for pollution control efforts across states. The central and state governments will work together as a team to reduce pollution in Delhi-NCR. This collaboration will range from data sharing to ground-level actions. Stricter measures will be implemented for industrial pollution, ensuring compliance with all environmental standards. Monitoring systems will be strengthened according to the guidelines of the Central Air Quality Management (CAQM). Additionally, the public will be engaged in this pollution control campaign through social media and other platforms.
Sirsa added that under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s leadership, concrete steps are being taken to reduce pollution in Delhi. Solid actions will be implemented at all levels to improve the air quality in Delhi-NCR in collaboration with the central and state governments.
