Patna, July 30: Shakti Singh Yadav, spokesperson for the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), has launched a verbal attack on the BJP, the central government, and the state government regarding the anti-paper leak bill, the NEET investigation, comments by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, the release of students, and the upcoming by-election for the Bakhtiyarpur seat. He asserted that merely enacting laws will not resolve the paper leak issue; a change in government is necessary.
On the paper leak issue, Yadav stated that discussions about the future of youth are dominating conversations across the country. There have been 152 instances of question paper leaks, which have compelled the government to take action due to the continuous pressure from the youth. Despite accountability being established, the question remains whether resignations alone can stop the leaks. He emphasized that as long as the current government remains, this will not be possible, as the government itself is the source of the leaks. The public is increasingly aware that a change in government is essential.
Regarding the NEET case, where the CBI has detained 13 individuals, including three officials from the NTA, Yadav remarked that it is the CBI’s responsibility to conduct a fair investigation. However, he accused the agency of granting clean chits in several cases from Gujarat to Bihar related to the 2024 NEET incident, indicating that the situation remains unsatisfactory. He stressed that without systemic changes, mere investigations will not provide a permanent solution to the problem.
Supporting Rahul Gandhi’s comments about Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, Yadav stated that Joshi is unfit for such an important role as the Minister of Education. Despite this, the BJP has entrusted him with this responsibility, further deteriorating the education system. He quipped that the situation resembles the saying, “one bitter gourd is bad enough, but two are worse.”
On the issue of student protests and their release in Bihar, Yadav noted that Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav had warned the government that if arrested students were not released, the RJD would launch a statewide movement. He accused the government of failing to honor agreements made with the protesters and imposing unjust charges on students. Tejashwi Yadav had written to Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary demanding the release of students, threatening a movement if they were not freed. Under pressure, the government eventually had to release the students. Yadav remarked that the government bends but needs someone to push it.
Regarding the Bakhtiyarpur by-election, Shakti Singh Yadav criticized the BJP, stating that while the noise of election campaigning may have quieted, public outrage remains. The electorate is no longer swayed by caste and religious polarization and will not fall for the BJP’s tactics. He noted that the party’s political standing has weakened, and it is continuously striving to garner support. He also questioned the BJP’s electoral strategy concerning women’s political participation.
