CMG Launches Select Film and TV Programs in Egypt Ahead of Xi Jinpings Visit

Beijing, August 30: Ahead of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s state visit, the China Media Group (CMG) officially launched a showcase of high-quality films and TV programs in Cairo, Egypt.

The lineup includes around ten films and programs, such as “Letters from President Xi” and “Cultural Connections of Xi Jinping.” These will be broadcast on Egypt’s national television and major media channels.

“Letters from President Xi” presents heartfelt stories that promote friendship and strengthen mutual understanding. On the other hand, “Cultural Connections of Xi Jinping” shares his profound thoughts and emotions regarding cultural heritage, conveying the core ideas of his cultural philosophy to international audiences.

During the launch ceremony, CMG’s Director General, Shan Haixiong, addressed attendees via video message. He noted that this year marks the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Egypt. Thus, this broadcast serves as a positive step towards enhancing cultural exchanges and mutual understanding between the two nations.

Li Qin, a minister at the Chinese Embassy in Egypt, stated that this broadcast will provide Egyptian audiences with a deeper understanding of China.

Numerous guests from Egypt’s political, academic, and media sectors attended the ceremony, sharing their thoughts. They praised the achievements of Egypt-China media cooperation and expressed hopes for deeper collaboration in joint film and TV production, as well as digital media.

The program will also feature documentaries like “The Future of China,” “When Pharaoh Meets Sanxingdui,” and “Starting from Qianzhou,” along with the TV series “Red Pomegranate Restaurant.”

This event, organized to bridge cultures, presents a vibrant image of modern China. It highlights the beautiful possibilities of mutual learning, cooperation, and win-win outcomes between civilizations. Reports indicate that these exhibitions will continue until the end of 2026, with several major media outlets in Egypt covering the event.
