Mumbai, July 30: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed his satisfaction following the passage of the ‘Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026′ in the Lok Sabha. He congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the central government, stating that this bill is a significant step towards making the country’s examination system more transparent, fair, and reliable.
In a post on the social media platform X, Fadnavis wrote, “Zero tolerance for paper leaks! The approval of this crucial reform in the Lok Sabha is a major step in protecting the interests of students.” He also thanked all the MPs and political parties whose support made this legislative reform possible.
Fadnavis emphasized that the NDA government stands firmly with the students of the nation and is committed to maintaining a merit-based system. “The government’s aim is to ensure that the future of every deserving candidate who takes the exam is safeguarded based on hard work and talent,” he remarked.
He pointed out that incidents like paper leaks undermine students’ trust and raise questions about the fairness of the examination system. Strict action against those involved in such cases is essential to prevent future criminal activities. The amendment bill includes provisions for stringent actions against paper leaks and the use of unfair means in examinations.
To ensure swift and effective punishment for offenders, the Chief Minister highlighted the importance of special fast-track courts, timely investigations, the appointment of special public prosecutors, and expedited appeal processes.
“Maintaining transparency and trust in the examination system is the government’s priority. This bill has been prepared with the interests of students across the country in mind and will promote fairness in competitive exams. It will effectively prevent examination-related irregularities and provide students with a safe and equitable environment. This legislation marks a decisive step towards enhancing the credibility, transparency, and fairness of the country’s examination system,” he concluded.
