New Delhi, July 29: During the discussion on the ‘Anti-Paper Leak Bill’ in the Lok Sabha, opposition leader Rahul Gandhi faced backlash from BJP MPs for his comments regarding Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the RSS. They have called for Gandhi to apologize for his unparliamentary language.
BJP MP Naresh Bansal stated that instead of discussing the bill, Rahul Gandhi was pushing his political agenda, disrupting the proceedings of the house. He accused Gandhi of using several inappropriate words that are unbecoming of an opposition leader. Bansal claimed that Gandhi’s allegations lacked seriousness and factual basis. He praised the Anti-Paper Leak Bill as an effective measure to clamp down on the cheating mafia, highlighting key provisions. The bill ensures that cases are decided in fast-track courts within three months and increases the punishment for offenders from three to ten years.
Bansal also targeted the opposition, noting that paper leaks have occurred in states governed by the INDIA alliance, yet they only protest over the NEET issue. He pointed out that during the Aam Aadmi Party’s tenure in Punjab, a paper leak incident also took place. Similar issues were observed under the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha government, which is part of the INDIA alliance.
BJP MP Ghulam Ali Khatana remarked that the opposition’s disruption of parliamentary proceedings over the past week is unprecedented. He accused Rahul Gandhi of wasting taxpayer-funded parliamentary time. Khatana emphasized that under Prime Minister Modi, significant reforms are being implemented swiftly, including strict laws, timely bill presentations, hefty fines, and the establishment of fast-track courts to ensure justice for students.
Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal condemned Gandhi’s statements, questioning who should apologize. He noted that the individual who used the term ‘idiot’ should be the one to seek forgiveness. Mittal mentioned that the government has strengthened the bill introduced two years ago against paper leaks, increasing the punishment for organized malpractice from five to ten years.
He asserted that paper leaks should not occur, regardless of whether the examination is conducted by the central or state government. This bill aims to ensure strict action against the paper leak mafia.
