Strict Ban on LPG Cylinder Sales from Warehouses in New Delhi

New Delhi, April 5: The Delhi government has imposed a complete ban on the sale of LPG cylinders directly from warehouses. Oil marketing companies (OMCs) have issued clear directives to all distributors, stating that such sales will be deemed illegal and will attract strict penalties. This initiative aims to enhance the transparency and efficiency of the LPG distribution system.

To improve consumer access, the government has significantly expanded the availability of 5-kilogram LPG cylinders throughout the city. These smaller cylinders can now be easily purchased from gas agencies by presenting a valid ID, with no need for address verification. To assist migrant workers, 11 special help desks have been established at select HPCL outlets, providing information about nearby LPG distributors.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that supply is being closely monitored to ensure there are no disruptions and that all regulations are strictly followed. Residents are advised to avoid visiting gas agencies or storage sites to prevent crowding, as all booked cylinders are being delivered directly to their homes within the scheduled time.

As of April 4, a total of 114,679 LPG bookings were recorded in Delhi, while OMCs delivered 131,335 cylinders. The number of deliveries exceeding bookings indicates that pending demand is being met at a steady pace, demonstrating the effectiveness of the system. Currently, the average delivery time for domestic LPG cylinders stands at 4.24 days, ensuring timely and reliable service for consumers.

The Chief Minister also mentioned that the government has activated a special control room (helpline) to curb illegal activities such as hoarding and black marketing. Strengthening law and order, the Delhi Police recently conducted raids at 17 locations, while officials from the Food and Supply Department inspected 76 gas agencies and storage sites.

She emphasized that the supply of LPG in Delhi is completely stable and under control. Citizens are urged to remain calm, ignore rumors, cooperate with the administration, and trust the established delivery system.
