
Nairobi, June 13: The Indian High Commissioner in Kenya emphasized the robust economic partnership between India and Kenya during a business event held in Eldoret on Saturday. He highlighted the immense potential for future expansion of this partnership.
The Indian High Commission in Nairobi shared on social media that a business program was organized in collaboration with the India-Kenya Chamber of Commerce (IKCC) to promote trade and investment between the two nations.
The High Commissioner pointed out the strong economic ties and the opportunities for further development. Representatives from the Indian and Kenyan business sectors in Eldoret shared insights about their business relationships with Indian companies and offered suggestions to strengthen bilateral trade.
The meeting included representatives from the county government, the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), and the president of the India-Kenya Chamber of Commerce (IKCC).
On Friday, the High Commissioner also met with the Governor of Uasin Gishu County during his visit to Eldoret to discuss various cooperation opportunities.
The Indian High Commission in Nairobi tweeted, “The High Commissioner met with the Honorable Governor Jonathan B. Chelelime of Uasin Gishu County during his visit to Eldoret.”
The discussions primarily focused on the potential for collaboration between India and Uasin Gishu County under the broader framework of the India-Kenya partnership. Areas of interest included agriculture and agro-processing, healthcare services, sports, education, and capacity building, with a view to attracting Indian investments.
According to the High Commission, “This meeting underscored the growing cooperation between India and Kenya across various sectors and the possibilities for further partnerships in the future.”
Indian High Commissioner Adarsh Swain also held a meeting with members of the Indian community in Eldoret. He praised their contributions to Kenya’s social and economic development, describing them as a vibrant bridge between India and Kenya.
The High Commission stated, “The High Commissioner informed the Indian community about the importance the Indian government places on its diaspora abroad. He shared steps being taken to strengthen relations between the two countries and urged expatriates to participate in the journey towards ‘Developed India 2047.’”
