Stalin Critiques NDA Leadership, Declares 2026 Elections a Battle of Tamil Nadu vs. Delhi

Chennai, March 3: In a sharp critique of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Tamil Nadu, DMK President and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin questioned the clarity of the opposition front’s leadership. He asked whether the coalition’s constituent parties even know who is leading the alliance in the state.

Referring to the NDA rally in Madurai on Sunday, Stalin pointed out contradictions in their messaging. While AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami claimed the coalition was led by his party and expressed confidence in victory, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about forming an NDA government in Tamil Nadu.

Stalin remarked that voters themselves are unclear about the leadership of the coalition, indicating a lack of unity within the opposition group. He reiterated his earlier statement that the upcoming assembly elections will be a contest between Tamil Nadu and the NDA, further supported by recent visits from Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.

“When I referred to it as Tamil Nadu versus NDA, many questioned me. However, whenever they visit the state, they confirm my statement,” he said.

Describing the political battle as one of regional pride versus central dominance, Stalin asserted that this election will be between the Tamil Nadu team and the Delhi team. He expressed confidence that the people of the state will support his government, emphasizing that Tamil Nadu will emerge victorious in this electoral contest.

In response to Modi’s statement in Madurai, which labeled the DMK’s hopes of remaining in power as an illusion, Stalin noted that the BJP’s ambitions in Tamil Nadu have long remained unfulfilled. He added that Modi has continuously dreamed of establishing a BJP government here, but that dream remains an illusion. He concluded by stating that the people of Tamil Nadu will decisively make their choice once again.
