Andhra Pradesh Farmers Receive ₹2,670 Crore Directly in Bank Accounts

Amaravati, March 14: The central and Andhra Pradesh governments have transferred ₹2,670 crore directly into the bank accounts of 4.685 million farmers under the PM-Kisan and Annadata Sukhi Bhav schemes.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu participated in the fund release event for the third installment of the PM-Kisan-Annadata Sukhi Bhav scheme, held in Surampalli, Krishna district. He virtually attended a speech by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Guwahati, addressing farmers across the nation.

During the event, the Prime Minister announced the 22nd installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, emphasizing its significant support for small farmers. Under the Annadata Sukhi Bhav scheme, eligible farmers in Andhra Pradesh receive annual financial assistance of ₹20,000, which includes ₹6,000 from the central government’s PM Kisan scheme and ₹14,000 from the state government.

Naidu stated that the NDA-led state government is focused on farmers’ welfare and is committed to modernizing the agricultural sector through technology. As the son of a farmer, he expressed a deep understanding of agriculture and highlighted the importance of irrigation for stabilizing farming in the Krishna delta through the Pattiseema project.

He also mentioned the government’s commitment to completing the Polavaram project, considered the lifeline of the state. The state aims to modernize agriculture by promoting technologies such as drone seeding and drip irrigation.

Additionally, plans are underway to establish the Indian School of Agriculture, which will guide farmers in modern agricultural practices, similar to the Indian School of Business. A 500-acre Cocoa City will also be set up in Eluru district.

Naidu noted that besides financial assistance, the state government has procured 4.7 million metric tons of rice, ensuring payment within 24 hours. Aqua farmers are being provided electricity at ₹1.50 per unit.

He acknowledged the challenges faced by agricultural and poultry products, such as bananas and eggs, in the market due to global conflicts, and mentioned that the state government is exploring alternative markets.
