Special Prayers Held for Captain Smita Machhars Recovery at Arya Samaj Temple

New Delhi, October 2 (Daily Kiran) : In New Delhi, special prayers were held at the Arya Samaj Temple in East of Kailash for Captain Smita Machhar, who heroically saved the lives of 174 passengers during a recent in-flight attack. The event took place on October 2, as people across the nation expressed their hopes for her swift recovery.

Vinod Bansal, a spokesperson for the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), conducted the special havan-yajna. Representatives from the VHP, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Arya Samaj, and other social and religious organizations participated in the prayers for her health and longevity.

In Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, a similar ceremony took place at Dashashwamedh Ghat, where locals performed aarti for Captain Machhar, invoking blessings from the Ganges and Lord Shiva. The community came together to honor her bravery during the crisis.

Captain Smita Machhar, an Indian pilot with Flydubai, faced a terrifying situation on September 30 when her co-pilot attacked her with a knife, attempting to crash the aircraft. In a matter of seconds, the plane plummeted nearly 14,000 feet. Despite being seriously injured and losing a significant amount of blood, Captain Machhar remained resolute. She fought back and, with the crew’s assistance, secured the cockpit.

Following the incident, she successfully executed an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, ensuring the safety of all aboard. With over 13 years of commercial flying experience and more than 9,750 flight hours, Captain Machhar has garnered widespread support and well-wishes from across the country as she recovers.
