New Delhi, October 2 (Daily Kiran) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently spoke with Indian pilot Smita Machhar, offering his support and wishing her a speedy recovery. He commended her for prioritizing the lives of her passengers over her own safety during a critical incident. “You have elevated the pride of 140 crore countrymen,” he stated.
The Prime Minister assured Smita that the entire nation is praying for her well-being. “Your courage, patience, and wisdom saved lives. Today, we can proudly say that we Indians are not just takers of life but savers of life,” he said.
Modi highlighted the severity of her injuries, remarking, “Despite facing such a grave situation, you chose to care for the lives of others.” He expressed deep admiration for her actions and emphasized the honor she has brought to the country.
During their conversation, Modi mentioned his recent interaction with Smita’s family, praising her mother for instilling values that shaped her character. “You have truly embodied the spirit of the Gita,” he told Smita’s mother, Geetaben.
Emotional during the call, Smita referred to Modi as her biggest idol. “You are my greatest inspiration. It fills me with pride that you reached out to encourage me,” she expressed.
She also admitted that she never anticipated speaking with the Prime Minister. Modi reassured her, saying, “You have done something monumental. Every citizen and people around the world are eager to meet you. You have truly made the nation proud.”
The Prime Minister conveyed his eagerness to welcome Smita back to India and expressed gratitude towards the governments of Saudi Arabia and the UAE for their care during her recovery. “I am deeply thankful for their support,” he concluded.
