New Delhi, October 2 (Daily Kiran) : New Delhi‘s traffic police have announced significant changes to traffic patterns ahead of a planned protest at Jantar Mantar on October 2, 2026. In an effort to manage the expected disruption, authorities are advising drivers to avoid certain routes.
In a social media post, the traffic police stated, “Due to restrictions and controlled movement around Jantar Mantar and nearby areas, we recommend travelers avoid affected roads and plan their journeys in advance.”
The advisory highlights that diversions will be in effect around key locations such as Connaught Place, Patel Chowk, GPO, Tolstoy Marg, Jantar Mantar Road, and Parliament Street. Drivers heading toward these areas are encouraged to consider alternative routes and allow extra travel time. They should also adhere to the instructions of traffic personnel deployed in the area.
The police urged motorists to remain patient, follow traffic regulations, and cooperate with the officers present. To minimize congestion, they advised avoiding Jantar Mantar, Parliament Street, Ashoka Road, and surrounding streets whenever possible, as barricades and traffic diversions may be implemented.
Additionally, the advisory warns that stopping or parking vehicles on designated routes or nearby areas is prohibited, as this could lead to traffic disruptions. According to the orders of competent authorities, Section 163 of the Indian National Security Code (BNS) will be enforced in the specified areas. The public is encouraged to comply with all directives from authorized personnel on-site.
Moreover, due to ongoing construction work on the PWD CC road along Swami Narayan Marg, traffic will be affected between Nand Lal Marg and Shastri Nagar Red Light from 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM, from October 1 to October 25. Travelers are advised to avoid these routes, follow traffic police instructions, and plan their journeys accordingly.
