Special Edition of Sunday on Cycle Celebrates One Year of Operation Sindoor

New Delhi, May 10: The ‘Sunday on Cycle’ event, celebrated every Sunday under the Fit India initiative, took place at Major Dhyan Chand Stadium in New Delhi. This edition saw participation from numerous athletes and a large number of local residents.

This time, the event held special significance as it marked the one-year anniversary of ‘Operation Sindoor,’ conducted in collaboration with the Indian Army to commemorate their victory.

On April 22, 2025, the Indian Army avenged an attack in Pahalgam by destroying terrorist bases located in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK) as part of ‘Operation Sindoor.’ This operation inflicted significant damage on the Pakistani army, showcasing India’s strength to the world. The celebration of this victory was a key highlight of the ‘Sunday on Cycle’ event.

The event attracted a diverse crowd, including many youths and individuals from various age groups, promoting health awareness. Athletes Priya Malik and Diksha Malik were the main attractions, encouraging the youth to stay committed to health and fitness.

Wrestler Diksha Malik stated, “The ‘Sunday on Cycle’ program is excellent for health. Everyone, regardless of age, should participate. It brings excitement and fosters a sense of unity, which strengthens the nation.”

Launched by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in December 2024, the ‘Sunday on Cycle’ initiative aims to raise health awareness among citizens. Cycling is promoted as a means to combat obesity. The government believes that healthy citizens contribute to a robust and developed nation. Additionally, the program emphasizes environmental conservation, advocating cycling as a way to create a cleaner and pollution-free environment.
