SP Spokesperson Criticizes BJPs Distraction Tactics, Promises Justice for Azam Khan

Lucknow, July 19: Amik Jamei, the national spokesperson for the Samajwadi Party (SP), targeted the BJP and the Uttar Pradesh government on various political and contemporary issues during a press conference on Saturday. He addressed topics such as the Maulana Jargees Ansari controversy, the case of Azam Khan, statements from OP Rajbhar, comments from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and issues surrounding the Jawahar University and Maulana Arshad Madani‘s remarks.

Regarding BJP leader Manish Yadav’s posters related to Maulana Jargees Ansari’s statements, Jamei noted that Ansari has previously faced serious allegations and has even been imprisoned. The SP has consistently demanded his arrest. He emphasized that derogatory comments about deities from any religion are unacceptable, and such behavior is disapproved by both Hindu and Muslim communities. If the UP police are not taking action, it may indicate political protection behind the scenes. He accused the BJP of creating a political atmosphere solely through social media.

On Azam Khan’s recent two-year sentence for making inappropriate remarks about the DM, Jamei pointed out that Khan has been in jail for nearly five and a half to six years. He described Khan as a significant leader of the socialist movement who has fought against communal forces throughout his life. Jamei alleged that there is administrative pressure on the judicial system in Uttar Pradesh. He expressed hope that if this pressure is lifted, Khan will receive justice soon.

Responding to OP Rajbhar’s comments about the involvement of the Yadav and Muslim communities in crime, Jamei sarcastically remarked that it seems Rajbhar’s social media accounts are influenced by others. He stated that the SP still considers Rajbhar a part of PDA politics and believes such statements create unnecessary controversy in society.

In response to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s accusations against the SP and Congress regarding changing population balance and links to Jinnah’s ideology, Jamei suggested that the government should wait for the SIT report to be made public. He questioned how the alleged main points of the report are already circulating in the media if it is yet to be presented in the Supreme Court. Jamei accused the government of creating new political controversies to distract the public from important issues.

Regarding Rajbhar’s comments about Jawahar University, Jamei stated that if the SP forms the government, under the leadership of party president Akhilesh Yadav, the university will be redeveloped, even if it costs up to 10,000 crores. He deemed the ongoing demolition orders against the university unconstitutional and illegal, arguing that the relevant development authority did not exist at the time of its construction, making current regulations inapplicable retroactively.

Supporting Maulana Arshad Madani’s statements about Congress and the history of the freedom movement, Jamei highlighted the significant contributions of various classes and communities in India’s struggle for independence. He mentioned figures like the Ulema of Deoband, Maulana Barkatullah Bhopali, Maulana Ubaidullah Sindhi, and Raja Mahendra Pratap, who fought against British rule. The Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind opposed Mohammad Ali Jinnah during the partition and chose to remain with India.

Jamei alleged that a climate of fear and division is being fostered in society today, while peace, brotherhood, and social harmony are essential for the country’s progress. He noted that during conflicts against Pakistan, Muslims in India stood firmly with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian Army.

On Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s comments related to marriage and the Uniform Civil Code, Jamei urged the government to adopt a uniform approach for all citizens rather than targeting a single community. He asserted that such statements are merely aimed at political polarization. The government should focus more on social harmony and development issues, as overall national progress is impossible without peace and brotherhood.
