Washington, July 18: President Donald Trump has revealed allegations of Chinese espionage and Iranian-Russian interference in the 2020 presidential election. He has called on Congress to support the Save America Act amid rising political tensions. Democratic leaders have launched a concerted attack on President Trump. Counselor Peter Navarro has backed Trump, attributing the issues to failures within the electoral system.
Navarro stated, “If the Save America Act passes, requiring voter ID and proof of citizenship, while curbing the careless use of absentee ballots, elections will be safer and more honest. Most importantly, the American people will have greater trust in the electoral process, increasing their likelihood of voting.”
Regarding Trump’s statements, he added, “What happened last night aimed to bring to light information that was previously kept confidential. In my opinion, this information should never have been classified. President Trump released it so that the American public can better understand the vulnerabilities in our electoral system. The Save America Act is a crucial step in this direction.”
Navarro emphasized that these are separate issues. “As expected, China has denied everything. This is not about China; it’s about the failure of the American political system to safeguard the integrity of our elections. I believe this happened because some domestic actors wanted the outcome of the 2020 election to differ from voter expectations.”
In a televised address to the nation late Friday, President Trump announced the immediate release of intelligence documents related to election security. He claimed these documents reveal shocking deficiencies in America’s electoral system, detailing alleged efforts by China to influence U.S. politics over the years.
Trump stated, “The People’s Republic of China has executed the largest breach in electoral data history, resulting in the illegal acquisition of files for 220 million American voters.”
He alleged that the stolen data included names, addresses, phone numbers, party affiliations, and other personal information, which could be used for voter registration and other alleged illegal activities.
Trump accused U.S. intelligence agencies of discovering for the first time in 2020 that millions of voter records had been bought, stolen, or hacked in 18 states. However, he claimed the agency did not inform him or Congress about this information.
He said, “They did not tell me or anyone else as president, and according to our information, they did not inform Congress either.”
