South Railway Announces 4,471 Apprentice Vacancies for Youth

Chennai, August 31: A golden opportunity has emerged for young individuals aspiring to kickstart a remarkable career in the railway sector. South Railway has officially announced the recruitment of 4,471 apprentice positions based on various trades and units.

Among these vacancies, there are 163 positions for freshers and 4,308 for pre-ITI candidates. The online application process commenced on August 28 and will close on September 27. Eligible candidates wishing to apply for these positions can complete their registration on the South Railway official website by 5 PM on the final date.

Applicants must have a minimum of 50% marks in relevant trades from a recognized board, institution, or university, including qualifications like 10th, 12th, or ITI certificates. The minimum age for applicants is 15 years, while the maximum age ranges from 22 to 24 years, depending on the position. Candidates from reserved categories will receive age relaxation as per regulations.

Selection of eligible candidates will be based on application scrutiny, shortlisting, merit lists, and document verification. Selected candidates will receive stipends of ₹8,200 per month for first-year freshers with a 10th-grade qualification, and ₹9,600 per month for those with a 12th-grade or pre-ITI qualification. The provisional list for document verification is expected to be published on October 15.

While filling out the application form, candidates must pay the prescribed application fee online, which is set at ₹100 for general/OBC/EWS categories. SC/ST/PWD candidates and women are exempt from the registration fee.
