New Delhi, September 1: In response to the alleged abuse of a three-year-old girl at a preschool in Northeast Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s office announced on Monday that strict legal action will be taken against the offenders.
The Chief Minister’s office stated that the Delhi government has taken serious note of this deeply concerning incident reported from a preschool in Maujpur.
Following directives from Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the district magistrate has initiated the process to seal the school premises. A police investigation is currently underway. The Delhi government is committed to ensuring that the perpetrators face justice and that stringent actions are enforced under the law.
This statement from the Chief Minister’s office came shortly after the opposition Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) criticized the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and held the Chief Minister accountable for recent incidents, including the alleged sexual assault of the three-year-old by a school van driver and a separate case involving a 15-year-old girl who was reportedly raped on a bus traveling from Noida to Delhi.
Atishi, the leader of the opposition in the Delhi Assembly, condemned the rape incident on the moving bus, calling it shameful. She stated that the BJP cannot evade its responsibilities, as both the Delhi and Uttar Pradesh governments and police are under its control.
She questioned, “I want to ask the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, how long will girls and women continue to be victims of violence?”
Atishi further claimed that despite being in power for 12-13 years, the BJP has failed to curb crimes and violence against women and girls.
She alleged that criminals have become increasingly brazen, knowing that the police will take no action. Even if arrested, they can easily secure bail or reach a settlement.
Saurabh Bhardwaj, president of the AAP Delhi unit, also criticized the Delhi government for its handling of crimes against women and girls.
“The Delhi government and police attempt to suppress every case. A three-year-old girl was raped in a school in Janakpuri, and the government is trying to cover that up as well. An investigation report against the school officials has been submitted, but Ashish Sood has yet to file an FIR against them,” he stated.
