Patna, August 31: Bihar Minister Ashok Chaudhary has expressed his disapproval of comments made by Islamic scholar Abubakar Ahmed from Kerala. He also responded positively to Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary’s meetings with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
In light of Grand Mufti Sheikh Abubakar Ahmed’s statement regarding women’s roles, Minister Chaudhary emphasized that for India to progress during this ‘Amrit Kaal’ and reclaim its status as a golden bird, women must work alongside men. He noted that women are advancing in every sector in India. He highlighted the involvement of female pilots in Operation Sindoor, stating, “How can you tell half the population to remain confined at home if you want to empower them?”
Chaudhary criticized those who make such statements, suggesting they are influenced by a patriarchal mindset. He insisted that to move the nation forward, there should be no distinction between sons and daughters.
The comments came after Abubakar stated at the ‘Hubbul Rasool Conference’ in Kochi that women should remain limited to their homes.
Minister Chaudhary remarked that the Chief Minister is seeking cooperation and has been in regular contact with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Previously, he had met with the Finance Minister regarding flood management in Nepal, which Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had addressed in a press conference. Chaudhary reiterated the need for a national sediment policy, mentioning that Sanjay Jha had raised concerns in Parliament about the impending expiration of the Farakka Water Treaty, which should not be extended as it could lead to water issues for future generations.
Regarding the deaths of four individuals due to toxic alcohol consumption, he stated that the police are investigating the matter. He acknowledged that illegal activities are prevalent in the country and assured that the government would take legal action against offenders.
On the recent altercation at TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee’s office, Chaudhary commented that it is not a significant issue and is part of the legal process. He noted that if Banerjee does not comply, the police will seek a warrant from the court.
