Shimla, September 1: Kuldeep Singh Pathania, the Speaker of Himachal Pradesh, has called for responses from relevant departments to ensure a swift resolution to public grievances raised during the Assembly’s ‘Zero Hour’ on Monday.
Members of the Bharatiya Janata Party highlighted serious concerns regarding the poor state of electricity supply, discrepancies in revenue records, and deteriorating law and order. Acknowledging the gravity of these issues, Speaker Pathania sought immediate answers.
Trilok Jamwal, the MLA from Bilaspur, raised the issue of low voltage and unscheduled power cuts in his constituency. He stated that irregular electricity supply is disrupting drinking water projects, causing difficulties in supply, and negatively impacting children’s education and online coaching. In some areas, power is unavailable all day.
Jamwal urged the government to ensure timely completion of tenders for all projects, including those funded by the World Bank.
Indradutt Lakhanpal, the MLA from Barsar, mentioned the challenges faced by the Scheduled Caste ‘Fleda’ community. He reported that while names were correctly recorded in old revenue documents, spelling errors in computerized records have led to them being listed as ‘Papeda.’ This technical glitch is causing significant difficulties in obtaining new Scheduled Caste certificates and verifying existing ones. He demanded that computerized records be corrected according to the old revenue records.
Indra Singh Gandhi, the MLA from Balh, expressed concern over the worsening law and order situation and the increasing use of ‘Chitta’ (a synthetic drug) in Upper Balh. He called for the immediate establishment of a police station to combat crime.
Gandhi reminded that the previous Jairam government had approved a police station for the area, which the current government has revoked. He emphasized the necessity of opening a police station in light of the deteriorating conditions.
