
Kolkata, July 18: Police arrested six individuals on Saturday for illegal cattle slaughter and selling beef without a license. This incident took place in the Raigachi area of Rajarhat, located in the northern outskirts of Kolkata.
The accused were presented in the Barasat Sub-Division Court, where police requested their custody for further investigation.
According to officials from the Rajarhat police station, multiple complaints had been received about the open sale of beef in various areas of Rajarhat. Following these complaints, police conducted raids and arrested the six individuals for illegal slaughter and beef sales. They were subsequently taken to the Rajarhat police station.
A senior officer from the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate stated, “Six individuals have been arrested. Cases have been registered against them for illegal slaughter and beef sales. The investigation is ongoing.”
BJP MLA Piyush Kanodia from Rajarhat New Town remarked that Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has enforced the rule of law since taking office. He emphasized that there is a strict ban on illegal cattle slaughter and beef sales, warning that those attempting to engage in such activities will not receive any leniency.
Kanodia urged the public to maintain peace and allow the police to perform their duties. He reiterated that the BJP government will not tolerate any illegal activities in the state.
Since the change in government, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has asserted that the rule of law has been established. The BJP administration has adopted a ‘zero-tolerance’ policy against illegal activities, including campaigns against the public sale of meat without a license. MLA Piyush Kanodia reiterated that no illegal activities will be tolerated in this BJP-ruled state.
