Greater Noida, May 30: The Surajpur police in Greater Noida have successfully arrested seven individuals involved in a series of thefts. Authorities recovered stolen gold chains, copper wire, and two illegal knives from the suspects. Some of the arrested individuals have extensive criminal records.
According to police reports, the arrests occurred on the night of May 29-30, 2026, near the Omicron-3 service road and the L&T service road in Sakipur.
The suspects have been identified as Uttam, Dipesh, Gaurav, Deepak Bhati, Rohit Bhati alias Rancho, Suraj, and another Rohit. Investigations revealed that Deepak Bhati, Rohit Bhati alias Rancho, Suraj, and Rohit are friends. They allegedly conspired to steal a gold chain from a woman residing in Sakipur on May 19, 2026, by engaging her in conversation. Notably, Deepak is related to the victim, which made it easier for them to deceive her.
Upon realizing the theft, the victim filed a complaint at the Surajpur police station, leading to the registration of a case. The police recovered a gold chain weighing approximately two tolas, valued at around three lakh rupees. Further investigation indicated that Uttam, Dipesh, and Gaurav operated as an organized gang.
This gang conducted reconnaissance on abandoned houses, under-construction buildings, and shops in Noida, Greater Noida, and the NCR region. They would steal electrical fittings when the opportunity arose. For instance, on January 30, they stole electrical wire from a shop in Jaitpur. The suspects had burned the wire to extract copper, which they intended to sell.
The police seized about four kilograms of copper during the arrests and also found two illegal knives in their possession. Legal action is being taken based on these findings. Records show that Gaurav, Uttam, Dipesh, and Rohit have multiple serious charges against them, including theft, robbery, illegal possession of weapons, attempted murder, and trafficking in stolen goods.
Notably, Gaurav has over a dozen cases registered against him in various police stations in Gautam Buddh Nagar. The Surajpur police are continuing their interrogation of the arrested individuals to determine the extent of their criminal activities in the area.
