Noida, March 20: In a significant criminal case, police in Gautam Buddh Nagar have arrested a wanted suspect. The accused faces serious allegations, including exploiting the victim under the pretense of marriage, creating obscene videos for blackmail, stealing money and jewelry, and pressuring her to convert her religion.
According to police, the case emerged on March 17, 2026, when the victim filed a complaint at the Phase-3 police station. In her statement, she revealed that the accused, identified as Vikas Kumar, also known as Mohammad Rameez (26 years old), lured her into a romantic trap under the guise of marriage. Subsequently, he engaged in sexual relations with her and secretly recorded explicit videos.
The victim claims that the accused continuously blackmailed her by threatening to release the videos, extorting money and jewelry from her. Furthermore, he allegedly threatened her life and pressured her to convert her religion. Following her complaint, police promptly registered a case and initiated a search for the suspect.
On March 19, 2026, the Phase-3 police, acting on electronic surveillance and confidential information, arrested the accused in the Chhatarpur area. Police report that the suspect, who has completed the 10th grade, had been on the run for an extended period.
In this case, police have registered a complaint under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) including 69, 351, 351(3), and 308(5), along with Section 3(2)(v) of the SC/ST Act, Section 66(e) of the IT Act, and Section 5(3) of the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Religious Conversion (Amendment) Act-2024. Authorities state that questioning of the accused is ongoing, and further legal action is being pursued.
