Jammu, February 17: Authorities have released images of five suspected Pakistani terrorists in the border districts of Jammu and Kashmir, specifically Kathua and Samba, and are urging the public to assist in tracking their activities. This action follows intelligence inputs indicating possible infiltration of terrorists from across the border.
The poster titled ‘Public Information’ appeals to citizens to report any suspicious individuals to security forces, including the Army, Central Reserve Police Force, local police, or Border Security Force, or to contact a designated helpline.
Officials have assured that the identities of those providing information will remain confidential. Sources revealed that security agencies in Punjab had shared intelligence regarding the suspected infiltration of terrorists from across the border.
They further stated, “Security forces are intensifying anti-terror operations in Kathua, Kishtwar, Udhampur, Doda, and Samba districts to neutralize terrorists and dismantle cross-border terrorist networks.”
Additionally, security forces and police have established extra checkpoints and are conducting area domination patrols on highways, border areas, and within localities, particularly focusing on searches in border regions to enhance security.
This initiative comes shortly after the police in Doda district displayed posters of Pakistan-based terrorist Saifullah Baluchi, who is part of ongoing operations to track foreign terrorists active in the Chenab Valley belt.
In Kathua district, authorities imposed a ban on ‘non-essential movement’ within a five-kilometer radius of the international border, citing the need to prevent cross-border firing and anti-national activities, ensuring the safety of citizens.
District Magistrate Rajesh Sharma issued this order under Section 163 of the Indian National Security Code (BNSC), which empowers executive magistrates to implement preventive measures in urgent matters posing a threat to public order and safety.
Officials noted that Jammu and Kashmir‘s Director General of Police, Nalin Prabhat, visited Samba district on Friday to review the security situation in border areas, meeting with senior police and civil administration officials.
He assessed the overall security conditions and reviewed the vigilance and alertness of police in border districts. Recently, Union Home Minister Amit Shah directed a mission-mode approach to eliminate terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir and ensure zero infiltration along the border during his visit to the Union Territory.
