Bhopal, May 31: Schools in Madhya Pradesh will reopen on June 16, marking the start of the new academic session. Due to the extreme heat, the state government has extended teachers’ vacations by seven days. Teachers will now report to schools on June 7 instead of June 1.
The School Education Department issued this directive on Saturday, prompted by temperatures exceeding 45 degrees Celsius in several districts.
Teachers are currently engaged in census and board examination-related tasks. The department noted the severe heat conditions across the state, with many areas experiencing temperatures above 45 degrees Celsius.
Considering the health of teachers and the prevailing weather conditions, this extension was granted.
With schools reopening, the second phase of the “School Chale Hum” campaign will also commence on June 16 and run until June 30. This initiative aims to ensure enrollment for all eligible children and to bring back students who have dropped out.
The State Education Center has instructed all district collectors to organize special activities during the campaign.
On June 16, a “School Start Festival” will also be celebrated in all government and private schools.
Officials have been directed to identify children who are absent from school and ensure their re-enrollment through home visits.
To monitor dropouts, the “Hamare Shikshak App” will utilize a child tracking system.
District collectors have also been asked to regularly review the campaign at the district level.
The School Education Department has instructed officials to ensure timely distribution of textbooks before the session begins.
