Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypts Foreign Ministers to Visit Pakistan Amid Iran Tensions

Islamabad, March 28: Amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East, Pakistan has initiated mediation efforts to reconcile between Iran and the United States. Despite struggling with its own disputes with Afghanistan, Pakistan is advocating for a ceasefire between the two nations. To facilitate this, Pakistan will host the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt from March 29 to 30.

During this meeting in Pakistan, the foreign ministers will engage in deep discussions on various issues, including efforts to reduce regional tensions stemming from the ongoing U.S.-Israel conflict with Iran.

A press release issued on Saturday by the Foreign Ministry stated that upon the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, and Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelattif will arrive in Islamabad for the talks.

The Foreign Ministry noted, “During this visit, the foreign ministers will engage in extensive discussions on multiple issues, including efforts to alleviate regional tensions. Additionally, all ministers will meet with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.”

In a statement, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tahir Andrabi announced on the social media platform X that the distinguished leaders will participate in comprehensive discussions on a wide range of regional and international issues. The meeting will focus on promoting peace and reducing conflict.

According to Pakistani media outlet Dawn, this dialogue was initially planned to take place in Turkey but was later confirmed to be held in Islamabad. Pakistan’s role in the Iran-U.S. dialogue process is increasingly significant. Notably, the Pakistani Prime Minister recently spoke for an hour with Iranian President Masoud Pejashkian, just a day before the meeting of foreign ministers from regional powers including Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan.
