Bhopal: Former BJP MP Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur has spoken out on the Bhojshala controversy, stating that the site is the permanent temple of Goddess Saraswati and that worship should continue there peacefully. She emphasised that Hindus will not accept any interference in their religion.
Commenting on the Supreme Court’s recent interim order regarding the Bhojshala case, Sadhvi Pragya expressed her respect for the Court as a constitutional authority. However, she noted that the ruling is temporary, providing only a provisional arrangement allowing Muslims to offer prayers while Hindus continue their worship according to their faith.
Recalling history, she said that during colonial rule, the Saraswati temple was desecrated and that justice has still not been served to that sacred site. She highlighted that the Hindu community has long faced oppression and suppression. “Today, the Hindu society has awakened. It does not seek revenge for insults to its deities or temples but aims to restore the glory of these sacred places by removing the stains of the past,” she said.
Sadhvi Pragya reiterated that this is the temple of Mother Saraswati and that efforts are underway to find a permanent solution for the temple’s status. She insisted that Hindus must regain full control of their temple without restrictions. She also condemned the practice during the Mughal era of constructing mosques on the ruins of temples, stating that such acts are no longer acceptable.
Taking a swipe at the Congress party, she claimed that it has historically ignored the temple and has been detrimental to Hindus and the Sanatan Dharma. She said, “For decades, Hindus have not received justice.”
She concluded by saying that the permanent temple of Mother Saraswati must remain without any obstacles, allowing peaceful worship to continue. She affirmed that India is a free country where everyone has the right to follow their religious practices. “Hinduism grants freedom to its communities and sects to practice their religion, and we have never tolerated interference in Hindu religious matters, nor will we ever,” she said.
