Jaipur, 1 September (Kiran News). Admissions for 80,000 children selected under the Right to Education (RTE) Act remain stalled, leaving students out of school for over five months. Frustrated parents and students have been repeatedly visiting education department offices, but classes have yet to begin. The Parents’ Association has warned that if admissions are not secured within three days, a massive protest and gherao of the Legislative Assembly will be organized to demand the right to education.

The RTE application process began on 25 March 2025, with 3.08 lakh applications submitted. On 9 April, nearly 80,000 children were selected through a lottery for admission to private schools. However, these schools have not admitted the children, and the education department has yet to take concrete action to ensure classes begin.
Abhishek Jain Bittu, spokesperson for the United Parents’ Association Rajasthan, stated, “The state government and administration have bowed down to private school mafias. For five months, children have been deprived of their right to education. Parents have submitted memorandums, staged protests, and held symbolic sit-ins, but the department only issues warnings to schools without taking real action.”
The Association has given the government a three-day deadline to resolve the issue, warning of a large-scale assembly gherao if admissions are not completed. Parents are determined to secure their children’s right to education.
