Rohit Pawar Criticizes BJPs Inaction on Corruption Amid Ram Mandir Fund Controversy

Mumbai, August 19: NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar addressed journalists on Wednesday, discussing various pressing issues. He criticized the BJP regarding the alleged misappropriation of funds for the Ram Mandir project. Pawar recalled the BJP’s 2014 slogan, “Na Khaunga, Na Khane Dunga” (I will not indulge in corruption, nor allow it). This slogan aimed to convey a strong stance against corruption. However, he pointed out numerous projects where corruption persists, lamenting the lack of stringent actions taken against it.

Regarding the Ram Mandir fund controversy, Pawar stated that the public had collected donations after centuries of struggle to build the temple. Unfortunately, he alleged that there were discrepancies in the donations, with local reports suggesting a scam of around ₹1,500 crores. He noted that individuals aligned with BJP ideologies were part of the temple committee. Once the issue came to light, these members were suspended, leading to resignations. Subsequently, the Uttar Pradesh government formed an SIT to investigate the matter. Surprisingly, after the investigation, those involved were given a clean chit.

Pawar emphasized that the situation indicates a troubling pattern: those who commit the wrongdoing are also the ones forming committees to oversee it. He expressed confidence that the electorate in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly elections would respond appropriately to these issues, asserting that the BJP would face significant consequences.

Additionally, Pawar commented on changes to the Maharashtra government’s Rules of Business. He explained that previously, ministers could make changes to files or regulations independently. However, the recent amendments have made unofficial practices official, raising concerns about potential interference from the Chief Minister in decisions made by Eknath Shinde.

He also criticized the BJP for attempting to undermine support for Congress by splitting votes, asserting that such tactics are unacceptable in a democratic system. Pawar concluded by stating that the BJP is gearing up for the 2029 elections, striving to create a favorable political landscape for themselves.
