Regional Workshop on Panchayat-Based Service Delivery to be Held in Srinagar

Srinagar, June 22: A regional workshop titled “Service to Prosperity: Panchayat-Based Service Delivery” is set to take place in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. The event will be inaugurated by the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha.

Attendees will include Javed Ahmad Dar, the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj of Jammu and Kashmir, Vivek Bhardwaj, Secretary of the Panchayati Raj Ministry, Palka Sahni, Joint Secretary of MOPR, and Mohammad Ejaz Asad, Secretary of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj in Jammu and Kashmir.

This workshop is organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology’s Common Services Centers Special Purpose Vehicle (CSC-SPV) and the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department of the Jammu and Kashmir government. It is part of the “Service to Prosperity” initiative by the Panchayati Raj Ministry, aimed at ensuring better service delivery through empowered, accountable, and responsible Panchayati Raj institutions and rural local bodies in rural India.

Participants will include Panchayat officials, elected representatives, and Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) from seven states: Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh, along with officials from state governments.

Additionally, representatives from civil society organizations, academic and research institutions, and organizations working in rural technology and digital public infrastructure will also participate, presenting diverse perspectives on governance and service delivery at the grassroots level.

Outstanding Gram Panchayats and exceptional Common Services Centers from the participating states will be recognized and awarded during the workshop. Discussions will focus on strengthening Panchayat-based service delivery through digital transformation, citizen participation, innovation, and improved access to public services at the grassroots level.

Panel discussions, technical sessions, and state-level experience-sharing sessions will provide a structured platform for knowledge exchange among states and the dissemination of scalable governance models.
